A pretty hilltop village of 248 inhabitants whose main activity is farming.

As is the case with many of the region's villages, Montgey bears the imprint of the history of the Cathar religion.
The calvary of Auvezines commemorates the terrible Cathar ambush of 1211 during which a troop of crusaders -- we're told they were 6,000 strong -- met an untimely end. They were bound for Lavaur to provide reinforcements to Simon de Montfort.
