Saint-Félix-Lauragais

"Saint-Félix . . . people get so attached, they just want to stay, for a few more hours or for the rest of their lives . . ."

Welcome to Saint-Félix

Gateway to the District when you arrive from Toulouse, in the heart of the Land of Plenty, Saint-Félix, medieval walled city whose central square is enhanced by a covered market, has a poupulation of 1382. The inhabitants of Saint-Félix have all the neighborhood business and services that they need.

An Exceptional Heritage

Located at the end of a high plateau, the village, nicknamed "Bellevue" offered visitors during the French Revolution a grandiose panorama. The view stretches from the Sidobre Montagne Noire (Black Mountain) to Canigou and the Midi d'Ossau Spike. This exceptional location, atop a high plateau, means that Saint-Félix has most certainly been settled since the beginning of time: a Roman settlement, then a Visigoth fort, a lord's domain and finally a walled city. The castle, built in the middle ages, witnessed the first Cathar Council in 1167

In Saint-Félix, wherever you turn there is something worth a second look
the castle (tower and ramparts from the age of the Cathar Council)
• the 14th century Collegium with its 1782 Rabiny organs
• the "Logis Collégial" Commander's Residence
• Three Mill Hill, the Englishmen's Cemetery of 1814 (English troops of the Duke of Wellington are buried here)
• the birthplace of the composer Déodat de Séverac, honored by an annual music festival
